Transforming Uganda Join DELTA Ministries, in partnership with Christian Life Ministries, if you are looking for God to use you to impact lives, leave a legacy and help us harvest a nation for God! Transforming Uganda’s short-term mission team dates:  Summer - July 23rd – August 1, 2010 or Winter – December 29th – January 9, 2011.
Haiti Relief & Recovery Teams Our hearts have been moved as we have watched the images during the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti.  Yet we know that God has not been surprised by this disaster.  In fact, quite the opposite, He is at work in this situation bringing glory and honor to His name. In partnership with "Haiti 4 Him", DELTA's strategy is to mobilize prayer, short-term mission teams and giving for long-term relief and recovery of Haiti.
Resources DELTA Ministries can provide you with the necessary resources needed to effectively train and mobilize your team for ministry.  These resources include websites, articles, curriculum and ministry tools.  These resources will help you learn and share about Jesus Christ to others as you serve on short-term mission teams:
Training Teams and Leaders The most effective training for short-term missions is gained  by active learning and not just by watching a video or reading a book. The training process begins roughly four months prior to departure (pre-field) and should continue on field and back home after your return (post-field). We highly recommend using a training curriculum such as The Next Mile for your team.
Post-Ministry Discipleship Stay the Course!
"Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." 1 Corinthians 15:58
Activate Your Church God continues to move in a mighty way through short-term missions. What started as small groups of individuals going out a few decades back has now grown into a global missions movement.

Debriefing

After the Team Returns – Debriefing Opportunities

One of the biggest life-changing aspects of a mission project is that in the process of learning another culture, we also learn a great deal about our own culture.  Going overseas or spending time with people drastically different from us enables us to encounter our own cultural identity and put it all under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.  Even though we like to think of ourselves as being totally biblical in our views, we often find ourselves influenced more by our materialistic cultural background then we like to admit.  When we go cross-culture our ethnocentricity comes out "big time" and we see how ugly it really is in us!  Often short-termers realize how much of their “Christian” behavior and values are conditioned by our American culture. But now we have an opportunity to experience spiritual growth that may actually be “counter-cultural”, but Christ-centered, rather than culture-centered.

The process of Re-entry can potentially be the most traumatic and yet most transforming experience for the short-termer. Thus the debriefing time should be the most important requirement for a short-term mission team.  DELTA can help to provide a trained facilitator to lead people through a reflection process that helps them to look back on insights from their journals or quiet times.  We can lead the entire team together to provide a safe environment for verbalizing feelings and experiences and guide them to make appropriate adjustments into their normal life and culture.

The lessons learned overseas must continue to influence behavior and attitudes at home – that is when short-term missions can have long-term impact and DELTA’s trained Short-Term Mission Coaches are ready to help lead your team through the journey of coming home and engaging in life with a renewed commitment to missional living.

TESTIMONIES

During my summer of ministry with the original MOP team, I knew that I would serve the Lord, in some form, for the rest of my life.  I didn't know what direction that commitment would take me.  I thought perhaps I would be a faithful attendee and a lay leader in some small church or maybe even a teacher on the mission field.  Looking back I can see how God used my involvment with MOP to help prepare me to serve him as a Pastor.
