James and Thressa Brand

Our Story…

James and Thressa’s journey towards this mission started nine years ago when they went on a life-changing short-term mission trip to Sao Paulo, Brazil. They came back excited about missions and realized their involvement didn’t have to end when they walked off the plane. Thressa began teaching a Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) Good News Club at a local elementary school and has been doing that for seven years. James joined the Global Missions Team at their church and served for almost six years.brands2

About three years ago, God prompted Thressa to begin seminary classes in order to better equip them for ministry, but not knowing exactly what was next. What happened to be next was a call to help with a church plant in their own neighborhood. Then, just last fall, James began to feel a calling to use his skills in finance to serve God on the mission field. As they began to seek out what that might look like, God connected them again with a ministry called Hope Alive! In Uganda.

Hope Alive! is a holistic ministry that focuses on children and families. James and Thressa actually connected with them a couple years prior when they were in Uganda adopting their son Mark. It turned out to be a perfect fit and the rest is, as they say, history!

What, When, Where…

The Brand family will be living and working in Kampala, Uganda. The plan is to depart no later than November 2013 and they will serve for up to one year.  James will serve as a budget analyst to help Hope Alive! with their finances and budgeting while Thressa and the kids will be engaged with children’s Bible studies and tutoring programs. This is not just an opportunity for James and Thressa to serve but for their whole family. All of the children are excited to be missionaries and share the good news of the gospel with others in Uganda.

Get Connected…

James and Thressa are already sending out updates with news of their family and ways that you can pray.
